Frown lines between the eyebrows are due to contraction of small muscles in this area. Injecting Botox/Dysport into this area will paralyze or weaken these muscles causing temporary improvements or disappearance of frown lines. The FDA has approved Botox/Dysport to be used to improve the appearance of the vertical lines between the brows. Although not FDA approved, Botox/ Dysport have also been used successfully for many years to treat many other areas of the face. Similarly crow's feet and horizontal forehead lines can also be improved by the injection of Botox/Dysport into these areas. Lines at present rest may or may not improve.
What it is:
One of the most talked-about cosmetic procedures on the market, Botox/Dysport is a non-surgical procedure that smoothes frown lines and keeps them relaxed for up to 3-6 months. Results are visible within days.
How it works:
Through a series of tiny injections, Botox/Dysport is placed into the problem areas and then relaxes the overactive muscles that have created frown lines and wrinkles. As those overactive muscles become weak through inactivity, the lines and wrinkles are diminished.
Concerns & Considerations:
Keep in mind that less is best! Too many people have made the mistake of getting too much Botox/Dysport at the outset. Remember that you can always add touch-ups – but you can’t take it away once you’ve put it in there. It’s always better to go back in and add to it than to get too much.
With Botox, there is some possibility of bruising so, as with all treatments, you’ll want to do it at least two weeks before any special occasions.
How long does BOTOX/Dysport last?
BOTOX/Dysport lasts 3-6 months.
